Donatas Norušis, It's Just a Phase, Probensaal UdK, Berlin, 2023 (excerpt)
The performance focuses on a complex texture of interaction between the performer and the audience as a listening body. Low-frequency compositions that utilize the sound phasing phenomenon are being performed live, simultaneously, the electricity generated by the artist’s pulse intensity is being collected and discharged once a set threshold is reached, causing the rhythm of the phasing to disappear. In order for the composition to return to its intended state, the artist must reconnect to the system, where the energy gathering would start again. Although the listener's role during the act is physically conventional, the presence of the audience has a key impact on the artist's levels of anxiety and consequently on the composition.
